Player UI Prototyping & Implementing

Designing the UI for GOLFIN was a unique challenge for me as when playing on mobile players end up covering the screen with their hands which leads to needs to make UI that is quickly impactful and easy to memorize. Another part of this process was adding the skill of the game to the UI which ended in the timing circle iteration. Tying these key components of the game to the UI further extenuated the problems of players covering the UI with their hands. This problem is what helped me decide on the motion that the player moves their hands in which is the forward flick. This allows them to take in the information and intentionally time their obstruction of the UI.
Gear Systems & Stat Economy
A large part of my time on GOLFIN was spent working on the games gear economy. In this instance that includes characters as well. As a mobile and WEB3 game that was intended to utilize the blockchain for monetization I had to strike a balance between progress verses pay to win. This included making the stats system for both characters and clubs to allow players to progress in multiple ways while still having some progression no matter the character they were playing. One system that was pitched was perks on character and clubs that gave bonuses in either stats or specific instances of gameplay to allow players to build per course and develop a competitive edge over other players.
